Bain Boeuf by Exillior Bain Boeuf by Exillior
A photo of me taken accidentally by my mother while she tried to figure out how my mobile phone camera works. She was meant to click only when I was already in place, but instead there are dozens of photos, a bit like a series of stills from a movie, so I think she just kept pressing on the button without realising.

The location is Bain Boeuf, in the north of Mauritius, Indian Ocean. The island behind me is Coin de Mire. To the right, outside the range of this photo, Round Island (Ile Ronde) and Flat Island (Ile Plate) can also be seen from Bain Boeuf. This is the last public beach from which all three islands can be seen. The viewpoints in Cap Malheureux are now all private. Bain Boeuf is very quiet because of the flat rocks that cover the beach - people don't come here to swim because it's not that sandy. As you can tell, however, Bain Boeuf is a lagoon.

My mother commented recently about a different lagoon on how many colours the water exhibits. It's always beautiful.

Oh, they can't get into the lagoon easily. Good reef barrier. And then they would be spotted trying to hide in that clear water. :P

Puerto Rico? I know next to nothing about the Caribbeans, truth be told. I am sure you have lovely beaches too! I'm curious - is your sand from coral, or is it quartz?

Typically Coral (but unfortunately, many beaches here in PR are contaminated by sewage & garbage...we're cleaning)

One of the more popular (& cleaner) beaches in PR is a place called Flamenco on the island town of Culebra www.google.com.pr/search?q=Cul…

El Escambron in San Juan is also pretty popular
www.google.com.pr/search?q=Cul…

Ocean Park is also in SJ
www.google.com.pr/search?q=Cul…

Bahia Sucia in Cabo Rojo gets a lot of attention too
www.deviantart.com/art/Bahia-S…

Seven Seas in Fajardo
savagefrog.deviantart.com/art/…

Some places in Isabela, Rincon (for surfers), the "cayos" (little islets that are solitary; the most famous one in the east is "Palomino" since they filmed "Pirates of the Caribbean" scenes on it). There's many other places I could name but they're way too solitary & dangerous (like the old naval station Roosevelt Road's beaches; ever since it closed, barely anyone has access to it so even if you could get to the beaches there, you'd be alone most of the time. Luquillo in general is contaminated so I'd never send a tourist to swim there)...yeah, there's a lot of places here but the Caribbean is a very beautiful place (but results vary by island XD).

It's winter here in Scotland, and what I really dislike is that it's just cold, wet and dark. It is never cold enough for snow, and it never stops raining. Sunrise is at 9:30AM and sunset at 3PM at the worst. You can easily forget what the sun looks like! What is winter like where you are?

Cold. Hopefully this winter won`t be as cold as last year`s but it was -15 degrees C not to long ago (and I live in Silesia which is a relatively warm part of my country, my father lives somewhere else and few days ago he really scared me saying that at his place is -25 C and it`s getting colder, ugh). I still have nightmares about a terrible snow storm that happened on May 1st 2012 :D
But most of the time it`s kinda ok, like now: cold at night and warmish during the day.

I miss the sun too. Recently I`ve been making tons of mugs for my Etsy shop but most of the time it`s to dark to make a proper picture (without a proper camera). Winter is really unpleasant but my favourite season, spring, is getting closer and closer. I can`t wait to see leaves and grass again.

I have never seen temperatures like that, here in Scotland it gets to 5-6C on average during most winters. In the mountains it tends to be crispier but certainly nothing like the temperatures you've had. It's been years since I saw any snow.

I need to have a look at your Etsy, then. I really like your mugs, but last time I looked, the one I wanted was gone. :P

I used to love winter. It was by far my favourite season. But nowadays winter for me is shadowed by the winter vomiting bug (always exposed to it since I work with ill people) and the fact that it's just cold, dark and wet... if there was snow, for me, it would make it bearable. Nowadays I have to say I love summer. Even temperatures of 45C don't bother me anymore after visiting Spain and Pakistan in full summer. :P

5-6 C? What a wonderful temperature for winter. You don`t have really big and ugly bugs in Scotland, do you? (I love pictures, paintings and any form of art with bugs, but I really hate seeing them in rl). If not I might consider moving :P

Snow. Snow is pretty if you live in the country - in cities it turns into depressing ugly wet mud very very fast. Nothing is more unpleasant than wet muddy pavement on a dark cloudy day.

Summer is really awesome too, but spring comes with that wonderful clean shade of green. You look at the plants and can see that everything is growing and changing. After a few weeks plants change: they`re still green but it`s different. The color is warmer, older, it`s just different (I would love to go to Spain or Pakistan too, but I`m going to London this year (+ many short trips to various Polish cities) and for now that`s all the traveling that I can afford :D Maybe next year).

As for my Etsy - it keeps changing, some things sell some don`t, but if somethings is gone it usually means that I can`t get my hands on some mug design. I can usually do it on slightly different mug so if you liked something let me know :)

Well, I don't have many clothing options when I'm in Mauritius. :XD: I got rid of most clothes that were there, and took the rest with me to the UK. The turquoise top I'm wearing here is the kameez (top part) from an outfit I wore for my cousin's wedding when I was 14-15.

Yeah, some of my clothes from back then had stopped fitting across the chest during the past 5-6 years, but this holiday everything fits - and is actually really baggy around the waist and hips, so it's not too flattering, but oh well.
