Artist's Comments

I'm sorry, I'm stupid, I put the best part of the pattern over the massive base of my thumb, so it's not showing properly ^^;

I also apologise, the pattern goes up my arm, but since the model's me, I'm afraid I can only show the hand.

I dedicate this to all my watchers, because many of you have keep me on my feet when I literally am not steady on them.

Time taken: 1h 45 (took a while because there are many new things in this pattern)
Pattern inspired from: Vaishali Narvekar
Application by: me
Hand belongs to: me
The photo is by my most precious brother ~CobaltDr, who came to my rescue with his camera when my point-and-shoot refused to take a photo of any kind. Thank you!!

wow, very detailed!

but, what exactly is henna?
:iconexillior:
Thank you! Henna is actually a plant -- its leaf is crushed and mixed often with tea or tea extracts to make a paste, which is applied as you see here. After a while, it dries and crumbles off the skin, leaving a brownish stain behind. You can see lots of lovely examples of the henna pattern without the paste on in ~arcanoide's gallery.

Usually the paste is available ready-made -- the one I used here was bought already mixed and in a tube, which makes it easier to apply.

I hope that helps! Wikipedia also has a little article on henna :P

The tip is pretty fine, that's all ^^; and I'm lucky enough that the ready-made paste I got is fairly smooth, so that it doesn't get big clots that stick up the tip of the tube...

Even so, it is extremely well done. (As usual) I love henna tattoos. They're beautiful!

I saw people from Tunesia doing this. Is that where Henna comes from ?
