For the past three years, "some guy" by the username of ikazon has organised the Thanksgiving Note Project. It has steadily gained more participation as the years go along, and last year there were over 200 participants.
What is this? It's simple! It's a project organised on the occasion of Thanksgiving. Is there anything you feel thankful for? All you have to do is send me a note and tell me what you are thankful for. It can be a single word, a line, a paragraph... you can be thankful about a small thing or a big thing... all of it counts. Anybody can participate. You don't have to be in the States and you don't have to celebrate Thanksgiving in your country.
What should my note look like? Here's an example of what your note should look like.
When can I send my note? Anytime between now and 23:59 GMT on Sunday 27th Nov 2011.
What happens to the notes? I will feature them in a (or more) news article, to share with the whole community. Last year there were so many participants that there were a whole five such articles posted. I hope there will be even more this year!
I heard the word "prizes"? That's right! There are a number of prizes up for grabs, and these will be allocated randomly. Every participant is in the running for a prize. It doesn't matter how good, how poetic, how long your note is - all that matters is to participate. Here is a list of prizes so far:

Why would I do this? Why are you doing this? I am Mauritian, and we do not have Thanksgiving. For the past couple of years, however, I have seen GaioumonBatou/ikazon organise the Thanksgiving Note Project, and seen how this event makes us feel a little loved, a little appreciated... just because we realised we are thankful for something. Life goes by so fast. Let's pause for the length of a note and think of something we're thankful for.
